Blackbird singing in the dead of night...

When I was pregnant with the twins, I used to sing 2 songs to my full belly. One was the Mockingbird song: "Hush little baby, don't say a word..."
and the other was this Beatles tune:

"Blackbird singing in the dead of night
take these broken wings and learn to fly
all your life
you were only waiting for this moment to arise.

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
take these sunken eyes and learn to see
all your life
you were only waiting for this moment to be free.

Blackbird fly, blackbird fly,
into the light of the dark black night."

And on another note, I just signed up for my Intro to Braille course offered by Hadley School for the Blind. I'm very excited and can't wait to be able to write little notes to Zelda in braille and put them in her lunch box - that is, as soon as she actually has a lunchbox...and can read...

I love both of those songs and had Blackbird on my birthing CD. Singing through the pain and all that ...

Hi Gail,
Hi Gail,
What awsome songs! And I love that you are taking an intro to Brail course!

P.S. I saw your post about the Boss and I had to laugh b/c I seriously thought you were from France!

What a painful, but beautiful entry. My nine year old son learned how to type and read in braille this year (We pretend it is our own secret code). He is also learning how to use a white cane. The nature of this parasitic infection is so unstable we must prepare him for the worst. However, he is a nine year old boy that enjoys life. He is an avid Chicago sports fan, a boy scout, our personal weather man, and the best big brother! This parasite has left him with an uncertain visual impairment with hydrocephalus scars, but without this infection he wouldn't have learned what he has, he wouldn't have been introduced to so many wonderful people and most importantly, he wouldn't be who he is!
Happy Mother's Day!
